John Gotti, Jr. was stabbed during a mysterious dispute in Long Island on Sunday, a source told the Daily News.
Former Gambino crime family boss John A. (Junior) Gotti was stabbed during a mysterious dispute in Long Island on Sunday, the Daily News has learned.
Gotti, the son of late "Dapper Don" John Gotti, told investigators he was stabbed in the stomach while trying to break up a fight between two strangers in the parking lot of a CVS in Syosset, a law enforcement source said.
The incident is now being investigated by both the Nassau County Police Department and Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice's office, the source said.

“We are aware of the incident and it is under review. Beyond that I have no further comment,” said Rick Whelan, chief of the D.A.’s Organized Crime and Rackets Bureau.
Gotti, 49, initially walked into Syosset Hospital seeking treatment for the wound, the source said.
The injury was deemed serious enough that he was transferred to North Shore University Hospital, the source said.

A hospital operator said on Monday afternoon that there was no patient by that name there.
The law-enforcement source was skeptical of the mob scion’s good Samaritan story.
"It's hard to believe he would break up a fight between two strangers,” the source said.

Gotti’s lawyer, Charles Carnesi, said he had not heard about the attack.
Management at the CVS in Syosset declined to comment.
Gotti has said he quit the mob in 1999, after deciding he’d had enough of being gangster and wanted to focus on being a father.
Carnesi said his client is managing real estate properties he owns in Long Island.
