Newly minted New York City Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo opined that black resentment of Jews was fueling 'knockout game' attacks, drawing ire from the Anti-Defamation League.
A newly elected New York City Council member has angered Jewish groups by linking “knockout game” attacks in Brooklyn to black resentment of Jews.
Councilwoman-elect Laurie Cumbo, who is black, wrote on her public Facebook page that black residents in Crown Heights feared being “pushed out by their Jewish landlords.”

She said she admires Jewish people, but added: “The accomplishments of the Jewish community triggers feelings of resentment, and a sense that Jewish success is not also their success.”
The Anti-Defamation League called the posting troubling and said it “evokes classic anti-Semitic stereotypes.”
