Desire Santiago, 21, was charged Wednesday with stealing the pair of hoop earrings off the 18-month-old.

A former Bronx day care employee was arrested Wednesday for taking earrings from a baby at the facility, officials said.
Desire Santiago, a resident of Trinity Ave., was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property for taking the $100 pair of silver and gold hoop earrings off the little 18-month-old's ears at a day care center on Hunts Point Ave. near Seneca Ave. in Hunts Point on Dec. 5, police sources said.
When the child returned home without the earrings, her mother called a day care center manager officials said.
After surveillance footage from the day care center showed Santiago, 21, removing the earrings from the tiny victim, she was immediately fired.
