Jenny Mendez, a rookie NYPD cop, is the latest to claim she was racially profiled by Macy's. She's suing the retailer for $40 million.
A Bronx woman says she lost her job as a rookie NYPD cop because she was wrongly arrested for shoplifting at Macy’s in Herald Square.

Mendez filed suit in Bronx Supreme Court last Friday. She says she was acquitted of shoplifting in a bench trial in September, but the NYPD had canned her in February, due to her bogus arrest, she says.
Her suit says she was off-duty and on a checkout line with her mother when they realized they were missing a bag; they were told to report to a store security office.

A security officer then told Mendez the bag had been found and that a man was arrested for stealing it, the suit says. But when she arrived at the security office to collect the bag, she found herself arrested for shoplifting, the suit says.
A store detective admitted at trial to lying on her arrest paperwork, the suit alleges.
