LL Cool J nominated for Rock and Roll Hall

Sixteen acts, including three from New York, are nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2014, The Post has learned.
The local nominees are Chic, described by the Hall as having “rescued disco in 1977 with a combination of groove, soul and distinctly New York City studio smarts,” the Queens-born LL Cool J, who was only 17 when he recorded “Rock the Bells,” and KISS, whose four original members formed the band in New York in 1972.

The other nominees are:

• Cat Stevens

• The Zombies

The inductees will be chosen by a secret ballot of more than 600 voters — including all past Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, as well as musicians, historians, critics and members of the music industry, according to the Hall.
