Modal Trigger
Philip Banks III -- likely the next NYPD commissioner if Bill de Blasio is elected mayor of NYC.

If Bill de Blasio is elected mayor — a good bet — look for Philip Banks III to be the next police commissioner, political insiders tell me.
In March, the 50-year-old was named NYPD chief of department, making him the city’s highest ranking uniformed officer. Banks is known as “a cop’s cop” and is popular in the precincts, sources say. He is a 26-year veteran who worked his way up the ranks while studying police science at Columbia and Harvard.
Politically, it could help the new mayor that Banks’ father is retired cop Philip Banks Jr., president of the New York City chapter of One Hundred Black Men. This might give de Blasio leverage against the extremists who want to prevent the police from frisking criminals for guns.
