Nita Bee’s Buzzin’ Review:

Nita Bee’s Buzzin’ Review:
One thing is for sure…I went to school on this one. I learned about “Chili Pimping”. :) The author takes you through a time, from a very young age to the present of how he became a “Chili Pimp”. The streets played a big role and the pimp game was what he strived to get into and, although small time, he did it. I was amazed at how at such a young age he wanted to be a pimp, how he admired the life they lead. I was especially amazed at the sexing and drug dealing he did at such a young age. Sex, drugs and cover-ups is what his story is all about, where the author is the main character in this true life story.
What I liked about the story is he wasn’t afraid to share what he did in his past. This is a true life street story where he was able to tell it in a somewhat clean understandable fashion. He wasn’t afraid to share of how he had his moment of fame and its ups and downs as a street hustler and small time pimp, as well as doing both while wearing a badge. Through it all. I’m really surprised that he has survived his journey and is able to share his story.
There were a few things he seemed to skip over or just jump right into, such as; his first childs mother…he mentioned ex-wife too once (not sure if that was a mistake) so I was a little confused as to whether she was his wife at the time or just a girlfriend. They seemed to just appear in the story. I also would have left out the term “making love” when referring to having sex with prostitutes…it just didn’t seem to fit with the situation. However, this did not take away from what his story is all about.
Overall, this was a good read although I do think the title should just read “Chili Pimping”. The author gave you an inside look from start to finish of his life of crime and striving to be that “street playa”. If nothing else this story shows you how a young kid can easily be influenced by things they see…especially when there is money involved. It also shows that yes, there is corruption within the police system and he is proof of that.
The author seems to want to make amends with his past, the reason he’s sharing his story. He has turned his life around, is a family man and has turned his negatives into positives. The books cover is ok for a Memoir…nicely done which shadows his face and within the shadow are places that played in parts of his life. Looking forward to his next book.
