Kanye West has a new album set to drop next Tuesday. The man recently closed out the latest season of Saturday Night Live, has been stirring up controversy by blasting his new videos onto the sides of landmarks across the country, and has every sneakerhead on pins and needles waiting for new information to leak about his personally-styled Nikes that will probably fetch for just short of your first-born on eBay.
On Tuesday, The New York Times published a lengthy Q&A with the rapper in advance of his Yeezus album release. Yes, that's really what it's called because, "West is his slave name; Yeezus is [his] God name." Kanye says a lot of ridiculous crap in the Times interview, including (but, not limited to):

  • "You know, if Michael Jordan can scream at the refs, me as Kanye West, as the Michael Jordan of music, can go and say, 'This is wrong.'"
  • "I don’t know if this is statistically right, but I’m assuming I have the most Grammys of anyone my age, but I haven’t won one against a white person."
  • On the Taylor Swift incident: "It’s only led me to complete awesomeness at all times. It’s only led me to awesome truth and awesomeness. Beauty, truth, awesomeness. That’s all it is."
  • "But I think the fact that I can’t sing that well is what makes “808s” so special."
Oh, there's more.
  • "This one Corbusier lamp was like, my greatest inspiration...I’m a minimalist in a rapper’s body.”
  • "The longer your ‘gevity is, the more confidence you build. The idea of Kanye and vanity are like, synonymous.”
  • “I think what Kanye West is going to mean is something similar to what Steve Jobs means."
