Gunfire on Empire Blvd. and Bedford Ave. in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, early Monday interrupted the J'Ouvert celebration, which acts as a prequel to the day's West Indian Day Parade.

A 21-year-old gunman was arrested Monday in the shooting of a 20-year-old man in Brooklyn during the J'Ouvert celebration, cops said.
David Pugh faces charges of assault, weapons possession, reckless endangerment, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest after he opened fire at 4:25 a.m. on Empire Blvd. and Bedford Ave. in Crown Heights, police said.
The overnight J’Ouvert celebration is a roving rowdy mix of drums and drink that precedes the West Indian Day Parade but is a separate event.
Victim Jaquan Johnson was hit once in the torso but was expected to survive, cops said.
The arrest was the only one so far in a string of five attacks that left two other men shot and two stabbed by Monday night.
Police were still hunting for as many as three gunmen after Cuomo administration lawyer Carey Gabay, 43, was hit in their crossfire. Gabay was critically wounded at 4:19 a.m. at Sullivan Pl. and Bedford Ave. in Crown Heights.
A gunman shot a 39-year-old man at Martense St. and Nostrand Ave. in Prospect Lefferts Gardens in an unrelated incident at 5:30 a.m., cops said. Another attacker stabbed a 24-year-old man at Eastern Pkwy. and Plaza St. East in Prospect Heights at 4 a.m.
