ALEC TABAK/FOR NEW YORK DAILY NEWSAssistant District Attorney Eli Cherkasky is on trial for allegedly choking and hitting a woman after a Halloween party.
A Manhattan prosecutor sounded like he knew he was in trouble when he got a call from an NYPD detective.
“Oh, my God. Oh, my God. . . . I know what this is,” Detective Martin Pastor quoted Eli Cherkasky as saying when the veteran cop phoned him about a scuffle at a Murray Hill bar.
Pastor was testifying Monday in Manhattan Criminal Court, where Cherkasky, an assistant district attorney, is on trial on allegations he choked and hit a womanafter a Halloween party.
“Do you know who I am? . . . I’m an ADA,” Cherkasky, 35, allegedly said. Pastor said the prosecutor voluntarily went to the 13th Precinct stationhouse, where he was arrested in the caught-on-tape fracas.
Cherkasky’s lawyer says accuser Kirsten Schuck, 32, was the aggressor.
