A Texas madman accused of killing five people in a gruesome shooting spree Monday took a break from the bloodshed to stop by a Mexican restaurant  but walked out without pulling the trigger, security footage shows.
A timeline of the killings in Terrell, a North Texas town, showed Charles Brownlow, 36, had already killed at least two people before he walked into Dos Aces restaurant on U.S. 80 shortly before 10 p.m. and asked for a table, according to police.
A hostess escorted him to a cozy spot in the corner, but Brownlow, accused of killing his mother and aunt, took a look around and then left, according to footage broadcast on NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

"I think we got lucky," manager Eric Fragoso told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. "There were a lot of people here."
"I mean, on the video, you see a lot of people were coming out. So imagine if he pulled a gun out right there. He would have killed -- I'm pretty sure -- more than 20 people."
Police haven't revealed a possible motive for the killing spree, but relatives and locals in Terrell said Brownlow had a history of violence and drug abuse, The Dallas Morning News reported.
