A nine-hour standoff with police, followed by his arrest, left Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz racing to get to New York last night for parties for his new album, “B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time.”
He performed in Oklahoma City with Lil’ Wayne andT.I. on Wednesday night, and was on his way here for a very un-rapper-like Condé Nast Bon Appétit party at about midnight when his tour bus was stopped for a busted tail light.
Reports say cops suspected there were drugs onboard, and asked to search the bus. The driver wouldn’t let the cops inside, and in turn was arrested.

But when police escorted the driver away, 2 Chainz’s crew locked the door from the inside, stopping the cops from entering. So they had the bus — with the performer and friends still inside — towed to a nearby police training facility. He and the crew were taken to jail and booked on obstruction-of-justice charges.
Oklahoma City police received a warrant to search the bus yesterday morning, and reportedly found some narcotics onboard but didn’t know whom they belonged to.
Chainz tweeted after the incident: “Don’t ask me ask OKC police department what they found on the bus . . . u won’t get an answer because nuthin’ was found.”
After each paid $2,000 bail, they were released yesterday afternoon and headed to New York. But that was too late for 2 Chainz to make it to the Bon Appétit listening party scheduled for last night, which was canceled hours before. His album comes with a cookbook created with his personal chef with dishes including shrimp and grits, salmon and garlic mash. These dishes and eight huge arrangements of white roses had already been delivered to the Bon Appétit bash for the “Birthday Song” rapper.
His label, Island Def Jam, sent out an eleventh-hour invitation to another listening party at DL on the Lower East Side, which started at 8 p.m. — making it unlikely he’d make that event either, although he tweeted yesterday afternoon, “NYC I’m on the way . . . ”
