Sugar Hill Tone inherited 141 street and Broadway. It wasn't conquered. The Drug business and territories with it are passed down, inherited, and bequeethed from generation to generation in Harlem.
I first came in contact with his workers in the early 90's as a Cop assigned to Manhattan North narcotics assigned to the infamous DIRTY THIRTY Precinct. Sugar Hill Tone's corner of 141st and Broadway was the most lucrative and envied corner in all of Harlem, mind you there were at least 30 dealers on each and every North, South, East, and Western corners of Broadway and it's little brother of Amsterdam Avenues at this time. I befriended his family as he himself was inaccesible to a Police Officer. Tone's mother Diane would give me free food made with her own hands as Tone's baby sister would play about the store as the Resto family kept watch over the headquaters of Tone and the Resto Brothers Empire which was making at that time about 1.5 million a day even beating Hamilton places' infomous 'Building". Which made a cool million a day as the calculation of my supervisor and Puerto Rican hater Lt. "Broadway Joe" Jose Rosado.
Dominicans were growing and gaining power in nortern Manhattan after chasing all of the Cubans away and to Union City in Hudson county New Jersey. The Dominicans came to the realization that for their 6 cartels to have full control of the "Crown jewel" of Manhattan "Sugar Hill" Harlem that the Resto Brothers had to go. The Sugar Hill gang would simply fall into line afer the "Puerto Ricans" were gone. The day the decision was made to frame them I was sent to work at the 3-4 pct. so that I could not tip them off as I had been doing for some time. Before I was sent or "Flown" I was shown the 'Eith" of a Kilo of Cocaine tha would be used to frame Tone. There was nothing I could do. Anthony Resto gets out of prison this year 13 years later. I wish him well and hope he knows that I did all I could by giving up all of the Cops who were involved in framing him. The Dominicans of course own all of upper Manhattan now. Only 4 cartels are left the other two are in different States now. Blacks and Puerto ricans can only sell Heroin, which is fine. There's enouh money for everyone. Besides the Dominicans are much better Lords and Business Men than the Italians ever were and Dominicans being in charge benefits everyone. They are "fair" and generous Rulers. I've made many a coin with both groups and feed my children thanks to both groups. Business will always be what it is....Business. Salvatore "Lucky Luciano" Lucania who named our neighborhood "SUGAR HILL" would be proud.
